Last week, Saxony’s Minister for Social Affairs, Petra Köpping, awarded the Annen Medal to 20 citizens in recognition of their outstanding voluntary work. Among them were Heike Steege, Dr Detlef Qietzsch, Dirk Fellendorf and Ursula Beyer (from left to right) from Chemnitz, who have shown particular dedication to the community – for example, as part of the visiting and reading-aloud dog team (Ursula Beyer), in accessible building (Dirk Fellendorf), in the care of cancer patients (Dr Detlef Qietzsch) and in the social sector (Heike Steege).

Petra Köpping praised the award winners as “great role models who will hopefully inspire many people to get involved too.”
