The winter term at Chemnitz Adult Education Centre begins on Monday 7 September. Nine weeks before the term starts, anyone interested can browse the centre’s autumn-winter programme online to find their preferred courses and register for them straight away. With 557 diverse courses currently on offer across six subject areas, the choice is vast. And the programme is constantly updated and expanded with new events.

Knowledge, skills, action

Acquiring, memorising and applying – these are the key stages of learning. The Adult Education Centre guides and supports its participants through this process, which is always accompanied by personal development and growth.

The aim of imparting useful knowledge in a sustainable, practical and effective way is summed up in the new slogan “Knowledge. Skills. Action”. It also serves as the guiding principle for programme planning. Many new courses address current topics and take account of trends, changing interests and evolving needs.

Conscious Living

New priorities are being set, particularly in the “Conscious Living” section. Of the 162 courses currently planned, 22 are new. In the popular ‘Exercise’ section, half of the 56 courses fall within the yoga spectrum, which has been enriched in the new term by short courses specifically dedicated to women’s health. In the ‘Healthy and Mindful Living’ section, the number and variety of self-care courses is growing. For example, the courses address how to deal with emotions such as anger or anxiety and offer guidance for periods of transition and upheaval in life. Anyone wishing to (re)discover the joy of baking is sure to find the right course for both savoury and sweet pastries.

Education, connection, exchange for a strong community

At the adult education centre, nobody learns on their own. The courses, workshops and lectures always provide opportunities to meet and exchange ideas. This is where people who share interests and learning goals come together – no matter how different they may otherwise be. In this way, the Adult Education Centre helps to build bridges, forge connections, engage in conversation and understand one another better – in short: to foster a sense of community.

Secure your place on your chosen course now

As always, it is advisable to book courses in good time. Even if something comes up at short notice, registered participants can rest assured – cancellations are free of charge up to six working days before the course starts.

The Adult Education Centre’s programme booklet will be published on Monday 17 August.
