Summer in the Stadthallenpark has begun

The Parksommer has kicked off its anniversary year. Until 2 August, the cultural festival is taking place in Stadthallenpark for the tenth time – featuring around 72 free events ranging from music and poetry slams to yoga and children’s activities.

Parksommer kicked off its anniversary year on Thursday. From 2 July to 2 August, the popular cultural festival is taking place for the tenth time in Chemnitz’s Stadthallenpark.

Around 72 events are on the programme, both on and off the 360-degree stage – ranging from classical, folk, jazz and blues to singer-songwriters and indie, as well as poetry slams, children’s events and yoga. Visitors can enjoy the events in a relaxed atmosphere on a picnic blanket or in a deckchair.

This year, Parksommer is celebrating its tenth anniversary. On Saturday 1 August, young and old alike are invited to a special anniversary celebration in the Stadthallenpark. Under the slogan ‘Schnurrbert celebrates!’, the programme includes a Tiger Duck rodeo, a costume sale from the Chemnitz Stadthalle’s collection, interactive sports activities for children and other surprises.

All events are free of charge. To support the festival, a crowdfunding project has been launched in collaboration with Volksbank Chemnitz eG. Under the slogan “Fette Mäuse für Schnurrbert”, you can support Parksommer either on site at the service counter or online. Every contribution helps to ensure the festival can go ahead next year too.

The Parksommer runs until 2 August in the Stadthallenpark. There’s a programme every day except Mondays: activities for children in the afternoon, yoga in the early evening and cultural events from 8 pm.
