Strength, speed and coordination: At the ‘Mobility’ educational camp organised by the Johanneum Children’s and Youth Foundation, young people had the chance to train with Max Heß, the triple jumper from Chemnitz, on Tuesday. He showed them athletics exercises which they were able to try out straight away.

The six-day educational camp at the Küchwald school camp combines learning, physical activity and shared experiences. The programme includes visits to the Saxon State Parliament, the Transport Museum, the park railway and the CVAG tram depot, amongst other things.

Max Heß is leading a group of children through some exercise routines on a lawn in front of a row of small wooden huts; all the participants are performing a squat.

The ‘Johanneum’ Children and Youth Foundation is a foundation run by the City of Chemnitz. Through the Johanneum Academy, it provides, amongst other things, educational programmes, sport and creative activities during the holidays for socially disadvantaged children. Donations and endowments help to ensure that this work can continue.
