On Sunday, Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky officially opened SG Adelsberg e. V.’s new floodlight system, together with the club’s chairman Wolfgang Fischer (second from the left), head of the football department Frank Müller (left) and youth football coordinator Tony Weißmantel.
The old floodlight system at the Cervantesstraße sports ground had to be replaced as the wooden foundations were no longer stable. Four new lighting masts with dimmable LED floodlights were installed. The previous overhead power line was laid underground. The total cost of the project amounts to around 83,500 euros, of which the City of Chemnitz has covered approximately 74,500 euros. The club is contributing ten per cent of the costs.
SG Adelsberg e. V. is the fourth-largest sports club in Chemnitz in terms of membership numbers. Mayor Ruscheinsky emphasised how important youth work is to the club. As a small gift, she presented the club with a Capital of Culture commemorative coin. The club celebrated the inauguration of the floodlight system alongside its 80th anniversary with a friendly match against CFC.
