Dr Dieter Füsslein signed the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz today in the presence of Lord Mayor Sven Schulze. He was presented with the honour as a surprise during the opening of the 14th Sustainability Conference at the Carlowitz Congress Centre.
Dr Dieter Füsslein has been championing the cause of sustainability for many years and plays a key role in ensuring that the historical legacy of Hans Carl von Carlowitz – the founder of the concept of forestry sustainability in 1713 – is preserved and adapted to the modern age.
Key aspects of his work include the preservation of the Carlowitz legacy, academic collaborations, the development of a ‘Museum of Sustainability’ at Rabenstein Castle, and the annual presentation of the Carlowitz Prize during the Sustainability Conference.
The Sustainability Conference is organised by the Saxon Hans Carl von Carlowitz Society (e. V.) under the leadership of Dr Dieter Füsslein.
