Dr Christoph Dittrich’s contract extended
The General Director of Chemnitz Theatres, Dr Christoph Dittrich, has extended his contract with the City of Chemnitz for a further five years. He signed his new agreement today in the presence of the Mayor and shareholder representative, Ralph Burghart. The contract, which was originally due to run until the summer of 2028, will now run until 31 July 2033.
Dr Christoph Dittrich has been at the helm of the Chemnitz Municipal Theatres since 1 August 2013. Under his leadership, the five artistic disciplines – opera, ballet, philharmonic orchestra, drama and puppet theatre – have continued to develop artistically and have played a key role in shaping cultural life in the city of Chemnitz.
I am delighted that this trust has been placed in me once again. The past few years have impressively demonstrated the potential that lies within the Chemnitz Municipal Theatres when artistic excellence, social responsibility and the courage to embrace new ideas come together. For I am convinced that the Chemnitz Theatres are far more than just a cultural institution – they are a driving force behind the cohesion, the appeal and the future of our city. The theatre projects for Chemnitz 2025 – European Capital of Culture and the staging of the ‘Theater der Welt’ festival are prime examples of the national and international influence that our theatre has been able to achieve together with its partners.
