On Monday, 30 March, work will begin on the comprehensive redesign of the children's library in the TIETZ Central Library. In addition to renewing the flooring, structural changes are also planned.
From 1 April until completion in May 2026, young readers will have access to an interim library in the TIETZ event hall. A short closure period is required to set up this interim solution and move the media: the children's library will be closed on 30 and 31 March.
Once the construction work is complete, the children's media will move back to their original location. During the construction phase, the children's area will remain closed for safety reasons.
The aim of the remodelling is to make the library even more child-friendly and to make the media collection accessible intuitively and independently. The aim is to give children better access to reading.
To bridge the gap, the city library is offering an extended loan period of eight weeks for children's media from 16 March 2026 to 11 April 2026.
