Chemnitz/South-West Saxony Regional Master Plan: 120 projects proposed

The master plan has moved into the next phase.

Around 120 project proposals from across the region have currently been submitted. In some cases, supplementary documentation is still required, so the final number may still change.

The projects submitted demonstrate the strong willingness of local authorities, the business community, the academic sector and other regional stakeholders to play an active role in shaping the transformation of the
Chemnitz/South-West Saxony region.

The projects range from innovation and industrial initiatives to measures aimed at securing a skilled workforce and infrastructure development, and are intended to lay the foundations for new jobs, investment and value creation in South-West Saxony. The focus is on projects that enable new value creation, further develop existing industrial strengths and are designed to secure the region’s competitiveness in the long term.

Over the past few months, South-West Saxony has made it very clear that we are not going to sit back and wait for others to shape our future. The strategic considerations set out in the master plan have given rise to concrete projects. The fact that there are around 120 project ideas is a strong indication of this.

Over the coming weeks, the projects submitted will be assessed and prioritised on the basis of the jointly developed criteria. The aim is to identify those
projects that can make a particularly significant contribution to the economic transformation and long-term development of the entire
. The prioritised projects are to be incorporated into the final version of the master plan in the autumn.
