Following consultation between the Chemnitz City Transport and Civil Engineering Office and the construction company on site, the full closure of Obere Hauptstraße in Wittgensdorf, in the area of the building site for a new retaining wall on the Wittgensdorfer Bach, will be changed to a half-lane closure outside working hours.
During working hours, the work and safety zone requires a full closure. Consequently, no through traffic will be permitted from 7.00 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. This will apply until the end of the first construction phase, including Friday 9 October. Outside the specified working hours, on weekdays and at weekends, traffic will be allowed to pass on one side of the road.
During the autumn half-term holidays from 10 to 25 October inclusive, passage will be permitted round the clock. Consideration is being given to providing a shorter diversion route for local residents after the autumn half-term holidays.
The retaining wall along the Wittgensdorfer Bach in the area between Obere Hauptstraße 134 and 152 in Wittgensdorf must be replaced with a new structure for reasons of structural stability. The overall project will run from September 2026 to August 2027 and is divided into several construction phases.
