The construction of a second artificial-turf pitch between the athletics stadium and the swimming pool was completed in October. The new artificial-turf pitch measures 45 by 90 metres, making it suitable for football matches. The pitch is intended to safeguard the future of the CFC youth academy and better meet the generally high demand for artificial turf pitches for club and grassroots sport in the city of Chemnitz.

To prevent rainwater from being discharged into the sewerage system, the pitch has been fitted with a drainage trench, which allows surface water and drainage water to seep away directly beneath the pitch.

The construction work took place from March to the end of October 2026. The construction costs amount to around 1.7 million euros, financed from the city’s own funds and through grants from the EU’s Energy and Climate Programme totalling approximately 265,000 euros.
