Additional local diversion

From Monday 9 November, due to the complete closure of Obere Hauptstraße in Wittgensdorf, a local diversion route via Plattenstraße – in addition to the official diversion – will be opened to traffic.

This additional route is expressly not suitable or intended as a diversion for general through traffic. Rather, it is intended to ensure better accessibility within the neighbourhood during the construction period. In particular, local tradespeople, businesses, care services, and emergency and rescue services are to be given the opportunity to continue making their necessary journeys via the shortest possible route. Furthermore, the route is intended to maintain local traffic flows, particularly private and public school transport as well as local public transport.

From Monday 9 November, Regiobus Mittelsachsen’s route 658 will also use this additional diversion route, and from Monday 16 November, CVAG’s route 96 will do the same. Information on the revised route and timetables will be published by the transport operators on their websites and at bus stops.

A weight limit of 7.5 tonnes has been imposed on Plattenstraße, with the proviso that ‘residents and public transport are exempt’. In the area of the adjacent residential development at Obere Hauptstraße 210 to 216a, a maximum speed limit of 20 km/h applies to protect residents and ensure safe traffic flow. This additional local route is intended solely to ensure accessibility and essential mobility within Wittgensdorf whilst the construction work is in progress.

The existing wide-area diversion route, which is already designated and signposted outside the built-up area, remains unchanged.
Through traffic will continue to be diverted via the official diversion route: Leipziger Straße – Bornaer Straße – Wittgensdorfer Straße – Chemnitzer Straße.

All road users are asked for their understanding and mutual consideration. In particular, please do not use the local diversion route as an alternative route for through traffic and please comply with the applicable traffic restrictions.
