A day for species conservation and environmental education

On 13 June, from 10 am to 5 pm, Nature Conservation Station, Adelsbergstraße 192

On Saturday, 13 June, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., interested parties are invited to the "Day for Species Conservation and Environmental Education" at the City of Chemnitz Nature Conservation Station, Adelsbergstraße 192. Visitors will gain an insight into the work and tasks of the nature conservation authority and the nature conservation station and learn how species and nature conservation issues are implemented in practice and what they can do themselves at home and in the garden.

Representatives of the media are also invited.

Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at the nature conservation station, its sustainable energy supply and the maintenance technology for nature conservation areas. They will learn about animals in water, fungi and their role in the ecosystem, what makes a species-rich flowering meadow and how to use a scythe properly. They can also find out about bats, birds and their roosts, amphibians and many nature conservation topics. There is also the opportunity to erect amphibian protection fences and build nesting boxes, test their knowledge of nature and find out what tasks volunteer nature conservation helpers have.

The varied programme is aimed at both children and adults and ranges from listening to participating. Children can also take part in craft and hands-on activities.

In addition to the staff of the nature conservation authority, the "Pilzfreunde Chemnitz e. V." and the BUND Chemnitz regional group with the Young Nature Guards are also involved in organising the event.

Note: The station does not have a visitor car park. We recommend travelling by public transport (tram line 5 and bus line 43).
