Funded small cultural projects in Chemnitz: Atomino im Wirkbau
The Atomino presents the new home
The "Atomino im Wirkbau" festival took place from 31 August to 4 September 2022 to present the club's new home and collect the last pennies for the renovation. Over the 5 days, 5,500 visitors came to the Wirkbau Chemnitz.
The cultural programme was organised with funds from the City of Chemnitz's small project funding.
An exhibition on the history of the club, which has existed since 1999, took place. In this exhibition, visitors were able to marvel at works of art and devotional objects, historical pieces of furniture and nostalgic photographs. Resident DJ Preller and Don Brummer provided musical accompaniment. Afterwards, the Atomino classic "Finally (again) Wednesday" took place, with DJ Kainat from Chemnitz and DJ Qnoe from Würzburg on the turntables.
In addition to the exhibition, a reading evening was also organised. The guests were Juliane Streich, Nina Kummer, Sibel Schick and Ulrike Nimz. They spoke about the book "These Girls: A journey through feminist music history". The respective contributions of the readers in the book were read out and followed by a discussion.
After the big open-air concert on Saturday, there was an after-show where resident DJ Preller got the crowds dancing once again.
