Funded small cultural projects in Chemnitz: Short film project

Short film project "Rêver" by Benjamin Agsten

The film project "Rêver" was shot from 04.08.2022 to 07.08.2022 in Chemnitz. The film is currently still being edited and will be released on Benjamin Agsten's YouTube channel at the end of 2022.

The experientelle short film is about self-reflection and plays with stylistic devices from silent films and a 1920s theme. In total, over 30 participants were involved in the film with the intention of strengthening culture in Chemnitz. Benjamin Agsten wrote the screenplay and was responsible for directing and producing the film. Christina Mährlein, Arkadij Damm and Ingmar Heide were also involved in the production management. Diana Fetsch was in charge of the camera. Johannes Gibbert and Ralf Glaser supported the lighting department with the Chemnitz film workshop. Karina Krengel, a national actress, and Martin Oliver Thiel, a trained actor from Berlin, were also recruited. Filming locations included the CineStar Chemnitz, a flat rented via Airbnb in Lützowstraße, the Siegmar club cinema and Chemnitz University of Technology.

The premiere of "Rêver" is scheduled to take place at CineStar Chemnitz on 26 January 2023.

In addition to this project, Benjamin Agsten has already supported previous successful film projects.

The film "Following" was shot in May and June 2021. It was released on YouTube on 07.05.2022. In addition, it was a great success at the "CUCKOO INTERNATIONAL FILM AWARD" in India. The film was awarded four prizes: Best Writer, Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Thriller Short Film. It was also screened at the Black Cat Award International Film Festival in Bolivia.

The film project "Wiped Out" was shot in February 2022 and was released on Benjamin Agsten's YouTube channel in July 2022. He was able to win the young actress and musician Leona Ruben as the leading actress for this film. She is known for her music and appearances in the TV series "Berlin Tag und Nacht".

Both films were shown on 28 July 2022 at CineStar Chemnitz as part of the premiere of "Wiped Out". A total of around 100 viewers were present that evening. "Follwing" and "Wiped Out" were in the selection process of national and international film festivals. "Wiped Out" won a Silver Award at the Hollywood Gold Awards and will be shown in cinemas in Los Angeles on 18 December 2022. The film also screened at the Make Art Not Fear Festival in Portugal, where it also won an award. It will also be shown next year at the Shortfundly Annual Film Festival in India.
