New Kiez On The Block#2

Kulturbahnhof Chemnitz gGmbH was founded in 2017 as part of the takeover of the former Südbahnhof. It manages the premises, coordinates projects and employs a handful of staff in the areas of programme, cultural work and crafts.

The cross-district neighbourhood festival took place for the second time this year, 2022, and once again offered a colourful programme at various locations. On 11 June 2022 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., the districts of Zentrum, Luther Quarter, Bernsdorf and Altchemnitz were covered. The central element of the decentralised walk event through the district is the mobile wagon with a self-sufficient sound system, parasol and moderator. A good time was spent with people at seven locations and various cultural performances were experienced.

A neighbourhood brunch was offered as a prelude. The little ones were able to burn off energy with kids yoga. People could get creative with screen printing and building mini instruments. There were also other activities to join in and experience on Annenplatz. In the afternoon, a concert with the "Kassberg Quartet" took place in the ASB residential centre alongside coffee and cake. This was followed by a performance by the "saddest cheerleaders in the world" in the transit centre. The event then continued on Stadlerplatz with a performance by the "geometric ballet". The culinary well-being of the visitors was not neglected either. A dinner was prepared at Subbotnik, which was accompanied by music. The neighbourhood festival ended with DJ Booster and his Italo disco beats at Transit.

Cooperation partners were the Reitbahnviertel district management, the ASB residential centre and the Chemnitz-Mitte citizens' platform.
