Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and Minister of State Claudia Roth visit Chemnitz

On 1 April 2022, Claudia Roth, Minister of State to the Federal Chancellor and Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, paid a brief visit to Chemnitz City Hall. She gained an overview of the preparations for the European Capital of Culture and met with the Chemnitz 2025 team.
In 2025, Chemnitz will share the title of European Capital of Culture with Nova Gorica in Slovenia. During her visit to Chemnitz, Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth expressed her enthusiasm for the progress made so far by the Chemnitz 2025 project. The focus of the European Capital of Culture 2025 is above all on shared values and democracy - an important political statement. The people of Chemnitz are thus clearly demonstrating how they can fight for democracy and also deal with opponents of democracy and those who despise the rule of law.
"Chemnitz will be our German-European Capital of Culture, building bridges where others want to erect walls. Chemnitz unites us in our values," continued Claudia Roth, whose path will now take her to Chemnitz on a regular basis.
