Short description:
Children have a right to their own films. They need films that address their specific life situation, that deal with their problems, wishes and dreams, that show them life, stimulate their imagination and allow them to learn - and they need films that pick them up at the level of their individual developmental psychology and teach them about film culture. This is where the work of the Saxon Children's and Youth Film Service comes in.
For years, the organisation has been meeting the basic need of Saxony's youngest citizens for cultural film and media education. High-quality films, mostly from Germany and Europe, are always shown on the big screen. Coupled with an appealing accompanying programme that encourages participation, the educational film events are an unforgettable experience for the children.
The SCHLINGEL International Film Festival for Children and Young Audiences, which takes place every year in the week before the Saxon autumn holidays and brings film fans as well as experts, international guests, actors, filmmakers and producers to Chemnitz, is a special highlight in the calendar of events of the Saxon Children's and Youth Film Service.
