Short description:

The organisation Opferhilfe Sachsen e.V. has been supporting victims of crime, their friends and relatives and people who come into contact with victims in their voluntary or professional work since 1996. The victims are cared for and supported by qualified staff in 9 counselling centres throughout Saxony.

The work focuses on stabilisation, psychoeducation and advice on how to deal with the consequences of the crime, accompaniment to the police and institutions, information on rights and options for victims and offenders, witness support and psychosocial trial support.

Furthermore, the association is continuously active in professional training and further education in the areas of justice, police, youth welfare and independent organisations. As part of its networking and committee work, the organisation informs the public and professionals about the concerns and situation of victims.
Opferhilfe Sachsen e.V. employs only full-time social education workers. The board works on a voluntary basis.
