In the 1960s, the 2-court facility, which had existed for 30 years, was extended by 2 courts. This created the material basis for the Altendorf tennis club, which documented its legal independence in 1992 by being entered in the register of associations. Economic independence followed in 1994 with the conclusion of a leasehold contract with the city of Chemnitz. Today, the TCA has 125 members. Six adult and one youth team take part in competitions.
The tennis club can look back on a long history. Unfortunately, the date of its foundation cannot be traced at present. It all started with 2 courts and a changing room hut. In the 1960s, the barracks were extended and converted into a proper clubhouse with a recreation room. At the same time, the facility was extended by 2 more pitches to the current 4. During the GDR era, the club was affiliated to BSG Motor Altendorf and the number of members increased to 180 by 1989. After reunification, the club was spun off from the large Altendorf gymnastics and sports club, which became the legal successor to BSG Motor Altendorf. In 1992, the TCA gained legal independence by being entered in the register of associations. In 1994, the club signed a leasehold agreement with the city of Chemnitz and thus also achieved economic independence.
