More and more people are questioning the origin of their food. They are looking for healthy fruit and vegetables from the region and want to know how they are grown.
The founders of the farm "Zur bunten Kuh" in Frankenberg run a community-supported agriculture based on Demeter criteria. On the four-sided farm, which is around 200 years old, attention is paid to the sustainable use of the soil and the production of healthy food. The work is mainly done manually or with horses. The vegetables are shared with harvesters. The decision on what to grow is made collectively.
A talk and tour provide an insight into everyday life on the farm. Heavy technology, chemical fertilisers and pesticides are not used. You can discover small-scale farming that cares about the fertility of the soil, cultivates tried and tested old vegetable varieties and keeps the animals in a species-appropriate manner. The conditions under which food is grown and processed are revealed in dialogue. On the educational farm there is an opportunity to observe and ask questions.
A distance of at least 1.5 metres from other people must be maintained during the events at the adult education centre. A face covering may be required at the entrance and in the public areas of the venue.
