Temporary bridge and tarmac path: pedestrians and cyclists can now get past the Falkeplatz building site more easily
Crossing the Falkeplatz construction site will now be more convenient, safer and cleaner for pedestrians and cyclists: an asphalted path, complete with a dedicated bridge over the River Chemnitz, was opened to the public today.
The new route replaces the previous construction site path, which consisted mainly of gravel and ran directly across Falkeplatz. Due to the construction work, the route of this path had often changed in recent weeks.
As one of the three bridges forming Falkeplatz is now being demolished and rebuilt as part of the extension of the new Chemnitz <> Limbach-O. railway line, the route for pedestrians and cyclists through the construction site has been adjusted.
VMS project manager Thomas Kaden: “The new tarmac path runs downstream past Falkeplatz, crosses the River Chemnitz via a bridge and joins Theaterstraße opposite the Rosenhof car park. There are crossing points for cyclists and pedestrians at that point.”
The (second) construction site path, made of paving stones and tarmac, for pedestrians and cyclists, located upstream near the Deutsche Bank, remains unchanged.
