This afternoon, 28 July, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig and representatives of Klub 2025 handed over the prize money to this year's Nimm Platz projects.

In the city council chamber of the town hall, the idea providers presented their projects once again and then received 2025 euros each for their realisation.

In a ten-day online vote, the people of Chemnitz cast almost 10,200 votes and chose their favourite projects. 20,250 euros were available for the ten most popular projects, in equal parts from the budget of the Capital of Culture application and from Klub2025. However, as none of the 14 projects up for election received fewer than 200 votes, which is a clear vote in favour of all of them, further funds have now been made available from the bid's communication budget - and all projects have therefore been funded this year.

Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "With its bid to become European Capital of Culture, Chemnitz wants to encourage its citizens to be creative and promote active co-operation. The Nimm-Platz project is a great example of how much creative potential lies dormant in our city. I am already looking forward to the projects that will once again create new favourite places in Chemnitz."

Dr Michael Kreuzkamp, CEO of Klub 2025 e. V. and Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Chemnitz: "Moving more together. The motto of Klub 2025 also describes the aim of the Nimm-Platz projects. That is why we are very happy to support civic initiatives. With the Nimm-Platz projects, we create new places for people to meet. At the same time, they create places of togetherness that make the city even more attractive and colourful."

The projects

  • Inclusive playground on Rößlerstraße
A good idea! An inclusive playground that can be used by children with and without disabilities.
  • Bicycle service station
Where will the new bicycle service station be located? All cycling enthusiasts in Chemnitz can now help decide.
  • Recycling benches in Adelsberg
Benches made from recycled material are upgrading Georgi Park in Adelsberg and creating a new meeting place in the neighbourhood.
  • Colourful basketball court in Konkordiapark
More colour! The streetball court in Konkordiapark becomes an internationally recognised art project.
  • Tin park in Schönau
A park in Schönau? It's a big project that starts with benches and paths and doesn't end with the green classroom.
  • Street painting on the Sonnenberg
How illusionistic street painting can change a place is to be experienced in the pedestrian area of the Sonnenberg Boulevard.
  • Umbrellas over Sonnenstraße
Rain protection, sun protection or simply beautiful to look at: The umbrella street on the Sonnenberg could become a new favourite place.
  • Pyramid in front of Reichenhain primary school
Freshly renovated, the primary school in Reichenbach becomes the backdrop for the new pyramid, which brings the whole neighbourhood together during the Advent season.
  • Flower clock on Sonnenstraße
What exactly is a flower clock? This question will soon be answered at the sundial on Sonnenberg Boulevard.
  • Meeting place in Gablenz
How about a new meeting place in Gablenz to linger and socialise - including raised beds based on the edible city concept?
  • Green strip in front of the Sonnenberg construction playground
That's it for the inconspicuous green strip in front of the AJZ construction playground - now it's becoming an eye-catcher thanks to natural stones and botany.
  • Benches at Rabenstein Castle
Hikers. Cyclists. Residents. Visitors. Around Saxony's smallest castle in Rabenstein, new seating areas will invite people to linger.
  • Reading island on Dresdner Straße
Once up the colourful steps, a reading and creative island is to be created in the outdoor area, which will be run by an antiquarian bookshop and printing workshop.
  • Meeting point at the Taubenschlag
A new meeting place with benches and a colourful meadow is to be created in the Yorck area at Taubenschlag.

Club 2025

The initiators of Klub 2025 are the Chemnitz-based Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Chamber of Crafts, Sparkasse, Volksbank and the companies tradu4you, Haus E and Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH.

Klub 2025 pools the commitment of small, medium-sized and larger companies in the south-west Saxony region. The aim of this association is to promote cultural engagement and thus advance the cultural and economic area in Chemnitz and the region.

"As Klub 2025, we are also taking the Chemnitz idea of the Nimm-Platz projects into the region. We are delighted that Burgstädt will be promoting civic engagement in a similar way in the future. The town of Aue has also already signalled its interest," says Dr Michael Kreuzkamp.
