"Romances and romanticism"
Matinée concert on Sunday, 6 October at 11 a.m. in the concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School
On Sunday, 6 October at 11 a.m., a matinée concert will take place in the concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School (Gerichtsstraße 1) with Svetlana Katchour (soprano) and Tatjana Funk (piano). Under the title "Romances and Romanticism", they will perform works by Robert Schumann, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Giacomo Puccini. Admission costs at the box office: 15 euros for adults, 12 euros for students, trainees, people with disabilities and 10 euros for schoolchildren and Chemnitz Pass holders.
Svetlana Katchour was born in Eupatoria (Crimean peninsula). She studied in Moscow with Gertruda Troyanova and was engaged by Natalija Saz at the theatre. She moved to Düsseldorf in 1991.
After her great success with the title role in the Rachmaninov opera Francesca da Rimini in Sir Peter Ustinov's production at the Chemnitz Opera, she was given a permanent engagement here in 1993. Her roles have included the Countess (The Marriage of Figaro), Tosca, Mimi, Violetta, Gilda, Amelia, Donna Anna and the Swan Princess (Tsar Sultan) as well as the main role in a concert performance of Norma. Svetlana Katchour has been working as a freelancer for several years and has appeared as Mimi, Cio-Cio-San, Elisabetta, Norma, Violetta, Tosca and Maria Stuarda at major theatres in Dresden, Hamburg, Leipzig, Leipzig, Dresden, Hamburg and Leipzig.Dresden, Hamburg, Leipzig, Kassel, Limoges, Zagreb, Lucerne, Liège, Trondheim, Auckland, Pretoria, Moscow, Irkutsk and Novosibirsk. She is a regular guest at the Chemnitz Opera and has sung Iris, Aida, Mimi and the soprano solo in Verdi's Requiem as well as in the gala programme of the Opera Ball.
Tatjana Funk was born in Sahtersk, in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. She was introduced to music at an early age because her parents are music teachers and accordionists. She received piano lessons from the age of eight.
After completing her music school education in Sahtersk "with honours", she continued her musical studies at the Technical School of Music (1993 - 1997) and at the College of Music (1997 - 1999) in Donetsk. In 1999 she moved to Germany with her family. She began teaching at the Yamaha Music School in Chemnitz in 2001 and has been working as a piano teacher and accompanist at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School since 2007. She enjoys playing chamber music and performs in numerous projects and concerts together with various artists.
