"Revolution is female"
Symposium on the Chemnitz twists and turns on 28 September, 4 pm in the hall of the Chemnitz Schloßbergmuseum - the Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Chemnitz invites you to attend
Thirty years ago, the Peaceful Revolution and the reunification of the two German states marked the beginning of a process that had a profound impact on all areas of the lives of the people living there.
How women experienced and helped to shape this period has not yet been sufficiently recognised in the culture of remembrance of this revolution. However, coming to terms with this era can be seen as an essential prerequisite for Germany to continue to grow together.
Women of different generations from the former East and West of the country will come together at the symposium as part of the "Chemnitzer Wendungen" event. The dialogue between them will make their biographies with their breaks and opportunities visible.
In addition to Minister of State Petra Köpping, civil rights activist Gesine Oltmanns (Peaceful Revolution Foundation) and Bautzen historian and blogger Annalena Schmidt will also be taking part. Ute Leukert and Astrid Bodenstein, who were closely involved with the "Women for Peace" network in Leipzig and Dresden, will enrich the dialogue. Susanne Hartzsch-Trauer, founding member of the new forum, will contribute to a multi-perspective view of the past 30 years as the initiator of numerous sustainable empowerment projects for women in Zwickau and the surrounding area.
The symposium is a joint event of the Church Women's Work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Chemnitz, the Schloßbergmuseum Chemnitz and the St-Petri-Schloss Kirchgemeinde Chemnitz.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited.
