Religious freedom vs. fundamental rights?

Symposium with Seyran Ates and other guests - on 12 September, from 9 a.m. at the TIETZ

On Thursday, 12 September, from 9 a.m., a symposium will be held for the third time in the TIETZ event hall under the motto "Living and loving in Germany", this time on the topic of "Religious freedom vs. fundamental rights?". It was organised by the municipal equal opportunities officer and the Chemnitz women's initiatives.

Seyran Ates was invited to give the keynote speech. She was born in Istanbul in 1963, came to Germany at the age of six and grew up in a traditional family. Since her youth, the lawyer has campaigned for equal opportunities between the sexes and advocates liberal Islam. She is the first woman to have founded a mosque where women and men of all religions, colours, sexual orientations, etc. can come together.

Petra Köpping, Saxony's Minister of State for Equality and Integration, Maximilian Steinhaus, a lawyer and speaker from the Giordano Bruno Foundation, and Etelka Kobuß, the City of Chemnitz's Integration Officer, are also expected to take part in the subsequent panel discussion.

The symposium is primarily aimed at educators and social pedagogues, employees of children's and youth facilities, associations and organisations, as well as all interested citizens.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to the event.
