Project week "Museum of Dreams"
Invitation to the press conference on 10 April, 11 a.m., Museum für Naturkunde
Representatives of the media are invited to the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz on Wednesday, 10 April 2019 at 11 a.m. for a press conference on the "Museum of Dreams" project week. They will be able to look over the shoulders of young people and talk to project manager Isabelle Ehle and exhibition curator Dr Thorid Zierold.
Be there when they measure, saw, film and make music at the Museum für Naturkunde! From sketches, drawings and their own stories, pupils from the Chemnitz school model will bring games, animated films and audio contributions for the future permanent exhibition to life.
As part of the project, which was funded by the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts with 19,500 euros, the Museum of Natural History developed ideas for the experience level in the new permanent exhibition together with pupils from the Chemnitz school model. These interactive stations will be presented in a special exhibition this autumn in order to obtain the public's opinion, but also to learn about suggestions for improvement. From this, the museum team will derive further developments for use in the experience level of the future permanent exhibition.
The pupils have so far been given an overview of the museum and its vision for the future. Based on their personal interests and abilities, they chose a focus from the range of topics. Now that the pupils have come together in groups and explored their ideas in greater depth, the resulting plans will be put into practice during the project week from 8 to 12 April 2019. The animation workshop Fantasia-Dresden e.V., solaris FZU, wooden toy maker Therese Lakatos and Holzkombinat will be on hand to help the young people realise their plans. They learn creative and design techniques and try out the practical handling of their element. Through this theoretical and practical work and the combination of nature and art, the pupils open up new approaches to scientific and technical content.
The Museum of Dreams project is co-financed by tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament.
