Opening of the fire service technical centre

Press invitation: Saturday, 12 September, 10 a.m., Carl-von-Bach-Straße 10

On Saturday, 12 September at 10 a.m., Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig will open the new Fire Service Technical Centre at Carl-von-Bach-Straße 10, and representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.

The new Chemnitz Fire Service Technical Centre in the immediate vicinity of Chemnitz III fire station in the industrial estate on Neefestraße houses a functional building with technical rooms as well as changing rooms, sanitary facilities and showers. In addition, the emergency services and fire brigade personnel have their recreation rooms in the basement of the building. Access to the building is barrier-free. The administration area with a counselling and training room is also located on the ground floor of the functional building. The civil protection vehicle hall with 18 parking spaces for lorries is located in the upper area.

Work on some of the outdoor training facilities is still ongoing. The competition-ready, three-storey training tower with run-up track is currently being built, as is the adjoining training cellar for wet and dry training. The roof area of the basement is used as a training area for the rubble course.

The training areas with the "extinguishing pond" theme with a 125 cubic metre basin, for which rainwater from the roof areas of the functional buildings and vehicle halls is used. The "forest", a tram accident with an 80-metre track, which was created with the support of CVAG, and a volleyball court have largely been completed.
The roads to the individual practice areas are still under construction.

The grass sports field was used as a temporary storage area for the earth during the entire construction period. The remaining earth required for levelling the terrain is currently still stored there. This training area will therefore be completed by the end of the year.

An internal road connection to Fire Station III has been created. The area is fenced off at the front of the access road. However, it will not be closed until the end of the year due to the ongoing construction work. The gas cylinder store and containers for the emergency power supply have been set up.

The costs currently total around 7.8 million euros.
