Music school - creative programmes during closing time

Due to the measures to restrict the spread of the coronavirus, the Municipal Music School has also been closed since 16 March. Nevertheless, it offers various creative ways to make music.

During these weeks, around 25 teachers are teaching around 300 pupils in new ways via online lessons. Senior citizens who do not have access to digital media will also be offered telephone lessons. It is important to the teachers to keep in touch with the music students, to cheer them up and encourage them.

Early musical education for the youngest children

Musical suggestions for singing and dancing for 4 to 6-year-olds were sent to parents by e-mail. This means that children can sing, play, dance and even make things together at home.

Lessons via motivational film

Some pupils were invited to take part in online lessons. In a motivational film, a teacher played a piece of music. In the learning video, the right hand of a piano piece is played first, then the left hand individually, and finally both hands together. This allows the pupils to observe the hand position closely, hear how it should sound and thus learn the piece of music more easily.

Preparation and follow-up for online lessons

With online lessons, teachers can work well on the repertoire and correct problems with rhythm, musical notation or movement sequences. However, the sound of the instruments can only be heard to a limited extent due to the lack of sound quality.

Pupils can also send a photo of particularly difficult passages in a piece of music and circle the unclear notes in colour so that the teacher can give specific help.

Spoken word group

Creative instructional videos are also available for this group of children, who playfully engage with language - they present at concerts, for example, and recite their own texts.

The many activities on offer are intended to bridge the time until they meet again at the music school and motivate the pupils to learn and practise.
