JugendKunstTriennale 2012: Exhibition set-up begins

187 competition entries were selected by the jury from 333 submissions in the area of the Saxon-Bavarian city network

Preparations are currently in full swing for the opening of the 2012 Youth Art Triennial of the Saxon-Bavarian Cities Network: In the exhibition rooms in the basement of the Neue Sächsische Galerie in the TIETZ building, the 187 competition entries are now being staged or put in the right light by the staff. The jury, chaired by Frank Maibier, a freelance artist from Chemnitz, selected the 187 competition entries from a total of 333 works submitted by the network of cities for participation in the Youth Art Triennial.
Other jury members were the painter and graphic artist Karla Schoppe from Zwickau, the graduate designer Andreas Rudloff from Plauen, the cultural journalist Ralf Sziegoleit from Hof and the 1st Chairman of the Bayreuth Art Association Hans-Hubertus Esser.

The project manager is Simone Becht from the cultural office of the host city of Chemnitz: "We were delighted with the great response to the call for entries for the YouthArtTriennial. Now we are looking forward to the presentation in the exhibition. Not an easy task, by the way, because the exhibits are as varied and diverse as the world of thoughts and feelings of the young creatives."

On display in the exhibition from 15 September to 28 October 2012 are the artistic works of 141 young artists aged between 14 and 25 from the cities of Chemnitz, Zwickau, Plauen, Hof and Bayreuth as well as from the surrounding areas of the cities in the Saxon-Bavarian city network. Most of the works are paintings and graphics, but sculptures, photographs and films were also submitted. According to Simone Becht, the works are all characterised by a remarkable quality of artistic execution and a wide range of themes. The winners will also be honoured at the opening of the exhibition. The host city of Chemnitz can be particularly pleased, as the city is represented by young artists in both the age categories of the main prizes and the recognition prizes.
