Easter at the zoo and wildlife park
Easter programme and cute offspring await visitors
There's a lot going on again at Chemnitz Zoo and Wildlife Park over the Easter weekend:
On Good Friday, 19 April, every child who visits the zoo will receive a small treat (while stocks last).
On Easter Sunday, 21 April, the big Easter egg hunt starts at 10 am in the wildlife park. Will all the eggs hidden by the Easter bunny be found?
Please note: The game reserve does not open until 10 am on Easter Sunday.
So the Easter bunny brings the eggs? These and other zoological misconceptions will be explored at Easter - in a very humorous way. The zoo is offering a public guided tour on Easter Sunday, 21 April, and Easter Monday, 22 April, both at 2 pm. Participation is free of charge. Only the entrance fee has to be paid.
Due to the limited number of participants (max. 20 people), please register in advance on 0371 85 00 28.
There are also a lot of offspring to discover at the zoo:
The two Göttingen mini pigs have become parents for the first time. Four little piglets now enrich the farm in the Ore Mountains.
The dwarf goats in the petting area have also given birth, four of them so far. A few weeks ago, the Erzgebirge goats also gave birth here. This regional livestock breed has only been kept at the zoo for a short time, but fits in well with the concept of showing mainly domestic and farm animal breeds from Saxony at the farm.
The zookeepers are also creating a facility for Easter chicks on the farm.
In addition, the zookeepers at the zoo will once again be offering short daily tours of selected animal species from Good Friday. These start at 11 a.m. and are offered throughout the entire Easter holiday week (up to and including Sunday 28 April).
In the wildlife park, the short tours only take place from Tuesday to Friday.
A visit is definitely worthwhile.
