Diverse micro-project ideas for Chemnitz2025
Almost 50 funding applications for creative projects from urban society have been received by the Capital of Culture Office
Chemnitz has made it to the second round of the German selection process for the European Capital of Culture 2025. One aspect in favour of the jury's vote was the broad participation of Chemnitz residents in the application process. For example, over 50 micro-project ideas from the urban community have received financial support so far.
The application deadline for the sixth funding round ended on 31 March - it is also the first in the second application round. Almost 50 applications were received. The topics range from one-day festivals of various genres to interdisciplinary exhibitions, from urban history to workshops, from art in public spaces to publications.
The desire of creative people for new formats and forms of expression, the exploration of issues relevant to the city and a wide range of programmes continues unabated and has even grown in times of cultural stagnation. This is why the funding round is to be completed without delay. The project applications will now go to the jury, consisting of Chemnitz residents appointed by the application programme council.
The micro-project submitters will be informed at the beginning of May. The project funds are provided by Chemnitz2025 and Klub 2025, a business association supporting the application.
