Coronavirus: three confirmed cases in Chemnitz
There are three confirmed cases of people infected with the coronavirus in the city of Chemnitz. Social Mayor Ralph Burghart announced this today.
The people belong to a group of travellers from South Tyrol who reported directly to the public health department and are in home quarantine. As of today, the three affected persons only show mild symptoms.
In this context, the Chemnitz public health department is asking citizens who have been in one of the named risk areas in the last 14 days to contact the public health department directly if they have mild symptoms of the disease.
Until then, they should stay at home and avoid unnecessary contact with other people. People who have had personal contact with a person who has demonstrably contracted coronavirus in the last 14 days should also contact the public health department by telephone.
Only if there are clear symptoms of illness such as fever, coughing or shortness of breath should those affected contact their GP or the GP on-call service exclusively by telephone. This also applies to patients who have not been in contact with defined risk areas.
Chemnitz residents can obtain daily updated information via the citizens' hotline 0371 488-5321. Further reliable information can be found HERE.
The following regions are categorised as risk areas according to the Robert Koch Institute:
- Italy: entire country.
- China: Hubei province (incl. city of Wuhan)
- South Korea: Gyeongsangbuk-do province (North Gyeongsang)
- Iran: entire country
Organisers of trade fairs, concerts or other events are asked to complete a form on the city's website and send it to the health department.
The health department will then decide in consultation with the organiser and the City of Chemnitz whether the event can take place.
