Corona outpatient clinic at the exhibition centre closes at the end of the month
Tests are continued by family doctors, paediatricians and the public health department
The coronavirus outpatient clinic set up by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Saxony, the hospitals in Chemnitz and the public health department at the trade fair centre will close at the end of June. From then on, testing for the coronavirus will again be carried out by family doctors, paediatricians and the public health department.
The outpatient clinic at the trade fair centre was set up in March to relieve hospitals and doctors in private practice of the burden of testing at a central location. To date, a total of around 3,500 people have been tested for the virus there.
From July, please contact the following facilities for corona testing after making an appointment by telephone:
- People with acute symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath of any severity and/or loss of sense of smell/taste should contact their family doctor or paediatrician. Outside office hours, the medical on-call service is available on 116 117.
- People who have had contact with a person who has tested positive will be contacted and tested by the public health department. Further measures such as quarantine or closures will then be arranged. If you have any questions, please contact the public health department on 0371 488-5302.
- People who have been notified by the Corona Warn app should contact the public health department on 0371 488-5302, their family doctor or the medical on-call service on 116 117.
- Teachers should contact their family doctor or ENT specialist.
- For private border crossings, e.g. for holidays abroad, people should contact their family doctor and must bear the costs themselves.
- Companies with preventive tests should contact their company doctor. The costs must be borne by the company itself.
A detailed guide to coronavirus testing in Chemnitz can be found on the website of the City of Chemnitz(www.chemnitz.de).
If the number of infections rises significantly again, an outpatient clinic like the one at the trade fair can be put back into operation very quickly.
Hospitals, doctors in private practice and the public health department continue to assume a risk of infection as long as no vaccine is available. For this reason, citizens should continue to observe the hygiene and social distancing rules and continue to wear face masks in confined spaces or on public transport to reduce the risk of infection.
