Children's day at the "Window into the history of the earth"

Kindertagsaktion beim "Fenster in die Erdgeschichte"

For Children's Day on 1 June 2019, the "Window into Earth History" excavation at the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz is offering a special event for naturalists of all ages. The venue is at Glockenstraße 16.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the excavation team will be giving visitors the opportunity to look over the shoulders of the scientists as they work. In a colourful programme at various stations, young and old researchers will learn interesting facts about the formation of the Petrified Forest and its inhabitants. Creative craft activities, face painting and glitter tattoos also await the young visitors. Young researchers can go in search of fossils themselves on the experimental field in the children's excavation, document them and then take them home with them.

Admission is free and registration is not required. The "Window into the Earth's History" project is subsidised by the European Social Fund (ESF).

Please note: Due to the demonstrations, the excavation can be reached on foot via the barriers on Hainstraße or via Sonnenstraße/Uhlandstraße or by car via Theodor-Körner Platz.
