With the ground-breaking ceremony, Mayor Barbara Ludwig marks the official start of the extensive construction project to extend Zschopauer Straße in Chemnitz/B 174 (information on the construction project PM 476 from 17.08.2012 - you will receive a separate invitation to the ground-breaking ceremony).

Saturday, 8 September
The new secondary sports school in Chemnitz is opened with a ceremony attended by Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig and Saxony's Minister of Education Brunhild Kurth. This will be followed by an open day.

Opening of the 11th Artists' Book Fair with the awarding of the Von Taube Prize.

The traditional open-air concert of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra Chemnitz will take place this year at the start of the 2012/2013 season. The admission price of 5 euros per ticket, which is being charged for the first time, is also a theatre voucher and will be credited towards a ticket purchase during the season.

The natural building material wood is the focus of the nationwide Open Monument Day 2012. The programme in Chemnitz also includes a special guided tour through various interior rooms of the New Town Hall (PM 494 from 28.08.2012).
